Research

The CEO of Intergraid, Dr Angela Adamu, created the first ever framework for integrating international students in US higher education institutions. The framework (Relational Interplay in Sociocultural Adaptation) identifies specific environmental and individual internal mechanisms as the driving forces on integration. With this knowledge, international student services offices, global studies departments, as well as international admissions offices can begin to direct their programs and activities better so as to help international students not only adapt but thrive during their academic sojourn. In addition to the framework, Dr. Adamu also discovered the Identity Transposition Theory, a theory that identifies the transitional identity stages of people living in and adapting to a new cultural environment. This theory holds a lot of promise globally in the light of immigration and migration issues. Intergraid believes that knowledge is power and sharing that knowledge benefits individuals, institutions, policy makers, and government agencies in understanding and addressing the challenges of transnational migration and the shifting dynamics of nation building.
